Another shot at Dr Who alternative reality with Dr WTF coming out in 2012. This time the bizarre editor Qwen Watts has me tackling the time phenomenon. But again it's focussing more on my favourite character of Dr Who, the TARDIS.

So, got lucky and brokered a place on the 2000ad Advent. I don't have to think something up which is entirely a good thing. God bless writers. While I haven't time or money to explore ideas and better myself as a sequential artist, it's the immense imagination of writers that keep me "briefed up".

This Christmas Advent has me doing more than that. This year there's a multi-collaboration with One prolific small press writer Van Dom and 4 other artists. I'm very happy to be part of this. It also has me relishing the challenge, holding up my end.

So I met my deadlines I'm happy to say. Old serial killer Ice Cream man got his letters finished on the 25 Oct and he's off to fill the pages of Hallowscream. And Bionoid Justice is out of my hands now in the lap of the letterer Flip Roncone. Now to reminisce on the process from there to here with the sketchy beginnings . Starting off with Bionoids. And firstly to the character design stage, cave, blog wonder!

Daughter Pride!

Just a quick hiatus to inform any regulars to the blog of my daughter's DA account where she is currently setting about the task of writing her own novel. A summer holiday killer filler world builder now reaching a momentous 40 thou plus words. She announce that, even though its now a "category," definition, she is comfortable with the idea of churning out another 25000 to up it onto novel status.

To keep me focussed on what I know is good for me, I'm made a sketch folder in my Manga saves. Here're the first couple. The first of the two is finished item for weekly tab another blog i'm on. I wanted to see the extent of well you can see, with a short time window to stop me overthinking.

The next is a more thoughtful one and something I can build on, playing with the PBrush in mangs. Its [second pic] open to reinterpretation and more working into I think. But that's why I've put it up here. To see it live on net.

A New Horror!

I've recently accepted work on a horror output. Tight deadline, I've got until the 26th of October at the latest. I'm working hand over knee with it in Manga Debut. Its black and White and that's as much as I'm saying for now. I am, however gonna file my favourite parts of my schedule up here on the blog.A place to store these images and maybe get some feedback from the more advanced comic artists following.

First up is a bluepen (or bloopern as I like to call it)from the completion of the first page. As you may have guessed, these are varying stages of wrangling with hurdles and dilemmas throughout the process.

Work done with Matt McLaughlin of Locusts of Death writing proficienados, has reached an editor who is on the way to making the strip live. In other words, into comic form you can hold; up to a certain drop off point, until the printed copies sell out; and then continuing with online free downloads.

And this personal project of my vendetta style character; Lonesome Ratboy.

Homeless, addiction addled, he works the undrworlsd into a frenzy being unknown, unloved and invisible.

He starts as a youngster in a gang and turns the school of hard knocks to his advantage with a little self taught martial arts and navy seal training, he proves there is no place too low to hide from a brilliant mind.

I'm working on this guy right now and the Frank Quitely vid got me what I needed to transit from my experiments in colour to the inks for internal art on Lonesome Rat.

New ideas

Coupla new ideas up for me to think on...

First one I came up with is Star Mechanix.

"A Tale of the RAC in Outer Space" is what some papers are calling it. A cross between Joss Whedon's Firefly and BBC DRAMA.

They can handle anything under the hood. From space-bending warp drives to "living- ships",

In their first instalment, something happens that is one of the hazards of the job. Some-one wants to steal their tug, so they can then carry out a whole load of spaceship/truck thefts. Very much like your present day car jackers.

It's to give an intro to their world. Hopefully I'll come up with more expansive and outlandish storyline further on.

Firstly; thank you Marbles, for the share.

Secondly; there was so much to learn from it, its amazing. The to do list is a humourous and important specification for organising my agenda. I'm only just, after years of toying with the idea, seriously getting on with to do lists. The amount of work then to cover and admission of ideas, be it on a train or "where ever", is also handy encouragement for holding a sketch book, just over pocket size, where ever I go. The colour differentials of multiple characters is a good tip too. I spotted that even before their mention.

Thirdly; he talks of the 301 Meg cover as a fully digital piece and with it lets slip on how he involves Neil Googe's internal art.

The terms "internal art" and "underdrawing" are each beneficial too.

One thing I'm opposite on, after all this while still, is labelling layers in front of working on them. But as he moves into the underdrawing more I see his advanced knowledge is working from guides then forward from them. Going over the work and making more alterations as he goes. At the level I am at, I usually traipse through layers then come to a point where I'm labelling them. At the moment I'm thinking it's a left hand thing...

The reason this vid sparked an interest in me was the All Star Superman stuff, from which I'm hoping to syphon off inspiration. For a work in progress, I am doing in Manga Studio Debut.

This is how it is. A man like me, at my age has no right to life. As much consequense comes from my death as a samoan childs. At least here a childs death is seen with shock and horror. But that doesn't mean there will be an almighty resolution becoming of the event. It ends up most of the times the parents if any go on tv to plead for 'closure'.These series of articles won't be written by a suicide nor a maniacal murderer. These are just of a man who wants all this fear out of his system. To stop the cyclicur nature of bad decision making, maybe but mainly to vent. To find out what I mean we are going to have to go back to the beginning. It won't take long and this is not auto-biographical believe. They are much longer and this concerns all the world around this man. How he affected it and how it seemed to him, in a personal quest to understand a world and to journelize in his own unique viewpoint.

I was dreaming of white horses and chargers. This was my first memory. I looked out of my sleep to see a blue painted wall. Ity was kind of dirty sky blue. Reaching out to touch it, a first encounter with cold plaster was felt. It was unlike my dream.Gravity seesawed this laying boy to some level, I thought trhe word could be flat. The smells of the room I was in never took shape.

Curiosity got the better of the kid and he sat up.
